Boer goats were derived in South Africa and are now more popular for their meat. They are great characters and are very friendly animals. We rear them again in a traditional fashion on grass pastures and hay during the winter months.  The meat has a great flavour and is very similar to lamb. Although a lot of people think goat meat should be used in curry dishes (which tends to be old tough goats!), Boer goat meat is tender, lean and to be eaten just like lamb.
